Trying to decide between gold or platinum?

Platinum is a naturally white metal that will never lose its brilliant white colour. White gold is an alloy created using yellow gold. When new, white gold looks similar to platinum because it has been rhodium plated, but it usually needs to be replated over time to maintain its white color, adding additional expense.

Because only a few hundred tonnes of platinum are produced annually, it is a scarce material, and is highly valuable and is a major precious metal commodity.  Although the up front cost of a  platinum ring will be more than white gold, reduced maintenance and durability make it a popular choice.
